20th Annual Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic

Surf’s up! Head down to the 1st Street Jetty at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront and catch some amazing surfers from around the world competing in a World Surf League 1000 longboarding event. The 20^th Annual Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic will be held daily from May 26^th through May 29^th.

This event offers more than just surfing; the 20th Annual Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic 5K will be on Sunday, May 28^th! For all runners interested in participating, registration information can be found here: https://runsignup.com/Race/VA/VirginiaBeach/COASTALEDGESTEELPIERCLASSIC5K.

Immerse yourself in local art and culture at the Virginia Beach Surf Art Expo. There will be exhibits and showcases from artists of all ages—including local student artists! Good times are sure to be had by all at this celebration of surfing and the ocean.

The 20^th Annual Coastal Edge Steel Pier Classic is completely open to the public, so you and your family can enjoy a classic beach festival experience for free! However, registration to compete in the surfing events and 5K have a fee which can be found on their registration pages.

Neptune’s 18th Annual Spring Wine Festival

Calling all wine lovers! Grab your friends and get ready to travel the world through wine tastings during Neptune’s 18^th Annual Spring Wine Festival on May 20, 2023. The 31^st Street Park will host a collection of tasting stations featuring over 70 wines from eight countries. While you’ll still be at the beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the unique blends will take your tastebuds from Argentina to New Zealand and many places in between.

There will be two bands performing live during the event: Ever After Duo from 12:00-2:00 and Kaboombox from 2:30-5:00. You can also grab some treats from two local food trucks. DaBiscuit and Luv-a-bowls will be serving up delicious food all afternoon!

The event will be held from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on May 20^th. Larger groups might be interested in reserving a table for the event—with each table reservation, the group will receive eight even tickets, a reserved table with chairs, a plant centerpiece to take home, and an ice bucket stocked with one bottle of wine and eight water bottles.

Each event ticket includes a commemorative wine glass, UNLIMITED tastings, live music, and the ability to purchase food from the food trucks. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the event website provided below.

Virginia Beach Bulls and Barrels Beach Rodeo

Looking for some excitement this weekend? Head down to the beach at 3rd Street and catch some top-notch bull riding and extreme barrel racing action! The event will be held from 3 pm on April 15th to 5 pm on April 16th. The talented bull riders and barrel races are sure to impress as they compete for a $12,000 purse on the beach. The Virginia Beach Bulls and Barrels Beach Rodeo is a Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association event.

This event is fun for the entire family—besides bull riding and barrel racing, there will be mini bull riding, rodeo clowns, and a Mutton Busting competition for the little ones! If you arrive early, you can participate in some FREE family fun provided by Area 4-H clubs.
